Eight Options for Nairn Bypass

The BBC reported today that Transport Scotland have put to consultation the (eventual) planned upgrade to the A96, and Nairn Bypass appears in the plans.

Transport Scotland have included a number of documents online here.

One of the surprises is that there are no less than 8 different bypass options for Nairn.

Certainly it’s a change from the original 2-route solution previously mooted – a sign that Transport Scotland are taking the whole project more seriously?

The big caveat, of course, is that this is commitment for – 2030. Two decades and a whole generation away.

If there’s one area of chronic underinvestment in Scotland, it’s transport links, but the hope remains that one day the Highlands will be as reasonably connected to the rest of Britain as the rest of Britain currently is.

In the meantime, I’ll add the PDF to MyNairn so that we can retain a record of it – too many PDF’s in previous posts have now disappeared from the web.Transport Scotland – Nairn Bypass (PDF)

It would be appreciated if The Proposed Route
for the NAIRN By-Pass was chosen… rather than
8 options ? Then inhabitants could plan their
lifes … Why do you have to make it so difficult.
