The passing of local blogs
I’ve noticed a few local blogs I’d followed disappearing over recent months, which has been a shame.
- Caravan 109 was always a pleasant read, but alas no longer exists, and the arhive.org record only starts from the beginning of 2011: Caravan 109 on archive.org
- Newsbleat’s “Wild and woolly opinion from the Scottish Highlands” was always a fun read, covering various issues across the Moray Firth – alas no more. IT’s actually been down for a while, and again, the only record on archive.org is from 2010: Newsbleat on archive.org
- Inversnecky was a satirical news site about Inverness, which announced at the end of last year that it was closing down. The most recent archive I can find is from early 2010, which at least retains a taste of the style there: Inversnecky on archive.org
Sad to see those sites gone, and others not actively maintained – though as we’re still going through the worst financial crisis for over a century, it’s more than understandable that some people need to put their focus elsewhere.
