It’s late August and still waiting for summer to arrive – though it feels today like Autumn is coming instead!

Just noticed a piece on the BBC website happen to mention that last month was the third wettest July for Scotland on record:

Inverewe’s Jurassic tree grove endures wet summer

The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) site had its coldest temperatures in more than 30 years over the winter.

And last month was third wettest July in Scotland on record.

Not seen it mentioned before, so thought worth taking a note of.

I guess the jet stream has come south again this year? A portent of things to come? Will the Highlands ever experience summer again?!

And, according to the BBC, for the UK as a whole:

“the coldest winter in 30 years, the first late spring since 1976, a heatwave in late June and the coldest August in 17 years.”
