Back from Nerja, Spain

Finally back from Nerja in Spain – been excited to go for a while as we were meeting up with family on holiday at the same time.

The weather was great, and there’s a lot around Nerja for a first time visitor to see – the caves, the mountain villages (such as Frigliana), and of course the beaches. Especially had a lot of fun snorkling. Nerja has the advantage of being a scenic part of Spain not destroyed by the high-rise development mistakes of the 1970′s and 1980′s, and new developments in Nerja have to keep to a traditional style, preserving something of the sence of character of the place.

However, flights were awful – Flybe from Inverness to London Gatwick and back were fine and on time. Unfortunately, Easyjet suffered serious delays, apparently because they do not have enough crews for their flights. The result was nearly 8 hours delay flying out to Spain (thus missing the first day of our holiday) and then delayed nearly 3 hours coming back, which meant we missed our Flybe connection and had to buy new flight tickets (£900!!) plus book a hotel.

So now I have to waste time chasing up a compensation claim with Easyjet, which apparently means I’ll have to take them to the sheriff’s court in Inverness, and chase up travel insurance with Aviva who are suddenly claiming they don’t cover UK flights.

Aside from that, a fun holiday and the family very much enjoyed themselves.

Now need another holiday, though – but never flying Easyjet again!
