Nairn’s Midnight Sun

The picture was taken at midnight, a few days after the summer solstice, when we enjoy the longest day of the year.
I always find it fascinating that we live in an area of the UK where we can actually see something of the midnight sun – okay, so it’s only a continuous dusk, but the fact that sunlight is visible on the far northern horizon througout the night I still find enigmatic.
No wonder visitors from ancient times consider the British Isles a magical place, at the end of the world.
Sometimes looking out late at times like these, with the silvery sea, mountian silhouettes, and daylight at midnight, it’s hard not to appreciate why.
