Lid Dems: Rail, not roads
Looks like the national Lib Deb policy is to stop much of the investment in roads and put it into rail instead:
Lib Dems plan rail expansion by cutting road projects
The Liberal Democrats have set out plans to reopen thousands of miles of railway tracks and stations.
The scheme would be funded by cutting capital spending on roads by £3bn.
I’m not sure how that would impact local policy, but regardless as to Danny Alexander’s personal beliefs on A96 expansion and a by-pass for Nairn, his party seems to be suggesting such matters would not be regarded as important.
In the meantime, is the Lib Dem campaign site for a by-pass still up? Hadn’t been working for a while last time I looked at it, and I can’t find it now. An ominous portent of Lib Dem policy?
