According to the Highland News, Doctor Who will be visiting Inverness as part of a BBC roadshow:

New Dr Who’s big city date!

THE eleventh Dr Who is embarking on his maiden voyage and Inverness is on the list of places he will visit.

The Highland capital is the hometown of Karen Gillan, the doctor’s new companion.

The whistle-stop tour will introduce the latest time travelling doc Matt Smith and Karen to fans of the show and offer them a unique chance to meet the stars.

They will visit Inverness on Tuesday, March 30 with the event hosted at Eden Court Theatre.

Each location will also host a regional premiere of episode one, The Eleventh Hour, for local children, working alongside BBC Outreach to enable kids to get a first look at the new Doctor and his sidekick in action.

Sounds like a lot of fun, and nice to see BBC Wales bringing the doctor’s new assistant back to her home town. :)

Sorry to disappoint but I’ve herd about that this is only for school kids. (very sad)

Not that I have any proof of this but I thought you should know.

Would be nice to know when the Doctor will actually be in Inverness, if only to catch a glimpse! I’ve contacted Eden Court and receieved no reply. A friend has gone there to try and obtain a ticket for my son, who is probably Dr Whos biggest fan and was told they know nothing about it(?) It’s hardly bringing the tour to the people, if the people don’t know any details…can anyone help at all? Thanks :-)

the event is happening at eden court on tuesday morning at 9am. doctor who and amy pond will be arriving on a special doctor who bus as part of their nationwide tour. they’ll chat to folks, and then watch a special preview screening with kids from karen gillan and caitlin blackwood’s schools, plus some other guests and members of local arts groups and eden court drama classes. you’re all welcome to come down and say hi to the doc, but we cant let you in to the screening. – re the point made by carrie – all the enquiries i’m aware of have been answered. my apologies if you’re waiting on an answer – who did you speak to and when?

Hi again! We actually went along on the morning of the 30th, on the offchance of catching a glimpse of ‘The Doctor and Amy’ and hoping to surprise my youngest Dominic, one of their biggest ever fans. My eldest Alex was in the know and we set off early, sadly arriving at Eden Court just as they’d gone into the auditorium. We were disappointed and thought that was it but Dominic was thrilled just to see the advertising posters and preview video being shown on the foyer screens…yes, he’s easily pleased! :-) He then caught sight of Steven Moffat and I thought he was going to hyperventilate! A short time later Matt and Karen came out of the auditorium unexpectedly, whilst the episode was being shown, and he said that that, and being given a poster by a member of the Eden court staff, had made his day. I got chatting to a couple of the Dr Who tour staff and the conversation got round to Dominics obsession and his ever increasing collection of Dr Who figures and DVDs, which are gradually taking over the house and said he’d just glimpsed Matt and Amy heading to their dressing rooms and was beyond thrilled. When I told them the only figure Dominic didn’t have was a Vashta Nerada one of them said to Dom “Is that your poster? Let’s see what I can do…” He disappeared and shortly afterwards returned with it signed “To Dominic, Best Wishes Matt Smith x” He also whispered, “they’ll be coming back through in a minute but keep it quiet or they’ll be mobbed!” I thought he meant we’d get a better view if we just waited quietly but as Matt and Any appeared, this gentleman approached Matt and pointed towards Dominic and said “This is the young man you’ve just signed the poster for!” Matt walked over, shook his hand and said “Hello Domininc, how you doing mate? Happy Birthday for Saturday!” before heading back to the auditorium. When Dom finally recovered(?) he said “I’m never going to wash this hand again!” I resisted the temptation to add “no change there then!” ;-)
It just remains to thank the Eden Court staff, the BBC tour staff and Matt himself for making my sons year, never mind his day! Carrie xxx

Oh and Matt has since proved himself to be a more than worthy successor in Dominics eyes, despite his initial despair when David Tennant started to regenerate. He’s now his firm favourite and as a result I can only see the figures collection growing further as he adds the Raggedy Doctor, Amy Pond, Silurians, Venetian Vampires….ad nauseum lol Cx

Oh, that’s a brilliant story – thanks for sharing that with us, Carrie. :)

And I quite agree – David Tennant was a brilliant Doctor – but Matt Smith and Stephen Moffat have ensured no break from the thrills and continued the run without disappointment. :)
