OS wrongs Nairn again!

Nairn Leisure Centre has a small number of maps available at the desk, titled:

“Street Map with index of Nairn, Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore, Kingussie, Newtonmore – with compliments of Northern Constabulary”

Idling a little time waiting for one of my kids from swimming lessons, I picked up a map, had a flick through – and noticed the entire Lochloy development looked completely wrong.

Here’s the map of Nairn:

and here’s the Lochloy development curiously displayed:

For clarification, this version on Google maps looks far more correct:
nairn-map-wrong-3

For such a small town, it seems strange that Ordnance Survey should make any significant errors with a small town like Nairn – such as leaving the beaches off the map.

Still, the map appears old, and Google are using OS data, so I suspect this has since been corrected – and certainly not something to drum up media attention to.

After all, even if still present on one of the scales, I doubt Lochloy features heavily in Nairn’s tourism literature. :)
