Alternative X rock nights at Inverness Ironworks

The Alternative X rock nights are coming to the Inverness Ironworks on January 16th 2010.
They will be held on every 3rd Saturday of the month throughout 2010, with under 18′s from 6pm-9pm, and over 18′s from 10pm-3am.
It’s set in the style of the classic club rock nights you’d get all over the UK – a venue where you can drink in good company, or dance to great music.
We’re going to be playing a very wide selection of alternative music to cater for as many tastes as possible, and using the tagline of:
“Metal, Indie, Goth, Punk, Emo and Classic Rock”.
Details will be up on the Ironworks website very soon (they have our artwork), and once they’ve made arrangements with Ticketmaster you should be able to buy tickets – under 18′s as £4 ticket or £5 on the door – over 18′s as £5 ticket or £7 on the door.
In the meantime, more information on the Alternative X website – and the rock night section.
We choose Ironworks because I figured there’d be a big demand for some form of regular rock night in the Highlands, but I was hoping to do something small in Nairn if the recent nightclub application went through. Alas, it wasn’t approved, so we’ll have to keep it to Inverness for the time being, rather than wake the dead in Nairn.
In the meantime, the new ICA booklet has information on Alternative X, with a central placement in the Ironworks ad on page 5 (we were too late to get our artwork in to them) and a write up on page 27 (the date on that last page is wrong, though – the first rock night is Jan 16th 2010).
I’m not sure how many people from Nairn this whole project may appeal to, but we’ll be playing a lot of retro stuff as well, so if anyone has any alternative music tastes, especially regarding rock and indie music, this could be a great excuse for a great night out in the New Year.
In the meantime, any questions about Altnerative X, feel free to ask on the new Alternative X community forums.
PS – I’m using the DJ moniker “DJ Archangel Scream”, and this whole project has taken far more organising (and money!!) than originally expected, but hopefully we’re going to be able to turn this into an exciting regular event. Keep tuned.
