Whoah! The cost of cinema tickets!
So a journalist is asking me about 3D TV, and I haven’t actually seen anything since a public display at the IPTV World forum last year (you did not need glasses for that demo either!).
So I figure I’d check the cinema listings in case theres a 3D Pixar film being shown – Toy Story 1&2 were being shown earlier, but a check shows that Up is available instead.
Up does not sound like it follow’s Pixar’s mould of exciting and entertaining films for kids, but I’m willing to give it a try, especially as surely no Pixar film can be that bad? And then there’s the novelty value of being in 3D to overcome any potential disappointment.
Would also make a nice treat for them as we move into the Christmas season proper.
So I check the ticket prices for Inverness Vu and – OMG!
Adults: £9.45 each
Chilren: £7.05 each
For the five of us, 2 adults, 3 kids, that’s £43.05!!
And if I order online, I get charged a card handling fee as well!!
Normal prices are bad enough at £7.20 for adults and kids at £5.40.
Apparently I can buy a X4 family ticket for Up 3D, but even still, the total is still £36.45. That’s just for tickets, and before we get to drinks and popcorn.
Maybe I’ll just wait for the DVD instead.

Precisely why we are giving Cinema Nairn a go! Family of four for The Wizard of Oz £20.00 and free lollies (apparently)
And then you get advertised at for half an hour before the main feature starts too. Still enjoyed The men that stare at goats – or a title close to that lol. Don’t go to Vue often though. Looking forward to Cinema Nairn.
I enjoyed Up!
Beautifully animated if you like CG films, and it pulls on a lot of emotional cords.
Couldn’t stomach the price of Vue Cinema, though – nor was I willing to put up with the crowd or rude maangers, so I went to Eden Court instead. Smaller screens, prices still feel a bit steep but they also do Orange Wednesday so if you go on a Wednesday with an Orange code it’s very cheap.
