Geese on the Wing

A huge flock of geese just flew over at 9am – making lots of noise of course.

We’ve had flocks of geese fly over many a time, but this one was the largest I’ve seen this year.

I called the children out to see, then decided to go for my camera for a picture, but by then they were flying into the distance and wouldn’t show up properly.

Anyway, the photo above only shows a fraction of the flock as they flew overhead (will enlarge).

No doubt many of them are coming to land on the fields by the railway bridge over the A96, just before the turn off to Gollanfield and Clephanton – so if you’re driving to Inverness today, there should be plenty of geese in the green.

And then they flew back over headed in the other direction, at 4pm. :)

Where will they go during the day if we build on all the fields between here and Inverness?

Lol! Don’t thik there are any plans to build on all the fields between here and Inverness, and where they land certainly doesn’t appear to be down for development. Certainly not at present. :)

Will be looking out for them crossing over again today. :)

Fantastic flock Brian, saw them at 4 pm heading for the firth. Certainly the biggest i’ve seen for years too. They dont all land in one field or for that matter adjoining fields. Big flocks like that tend to split up and cover a wide area when feeding.
