Fort-George-Knights

Interesting coverage on the BBC which shows Fort George managed to make the Top 10 of most visited properties owned by Historic Scotland, coming in at 7th place, with Urquhart Castle making 3rd.

While Central Belt attractions, not least Edinburgh and Stirling Castle, make it top of the list, and Urquhart castle has its big association with Loch Ness, I was still surprised to see Fort George listed.

Still, no doubt recent events have helped, not least with coverage of Culloden this year, so perhaps this will help see more events carried out on the site – like the knights last year, covered splitting lances on each other in the picture above.

Of course, as Nairn is close by, I wonder if there is a way to tie up both Historic Scotland events and attactions more with local B&B and hotel accommodation?
