More whales in the Cromaty Firth

This time last year we witnessed a Sperm Whale enter the Moray Firth, unfortunately later dying.

Now Bottle-Nosed Whales have been getting stranded off Cromaty:

Marine conservationists are to carry out checks of the Cromarty Firth for a rare deep sea whale which escaped while attempts were made to humanely kill it.

The animal became beached along with another northern bottle-nosed whale on Sunday afternoon near Cromarty.

Vets had injected both whales with drugs to put them to sleep because of injuries sustained out of the water.

A third whale appears to have successfully made its way back out to sea after entering Cromarty Harbour.

It also comes on the heels of a dolphin super-pod being spotted off the Moray coast in June.

Seems the summer months can be a busy time for cetaceans around the Firths.

I seem to remember that there was a stor some while back about the bottle nosed dolphins attacking and killing Porpoises in the Moray Firth. Does anyone know anything more about this?
