Thunder and lightning…

Very very frightening.
More thunder was heard in a single day today in Nairn than all the years I’ve been here put together.
Which is, admittedly, only a few years – but previous instances of thunder I’ve heard I could count on two fingers, whereas today it rumbled through, hour after hour.
Sunshine broken by spots of cloud, it was impressive really for the lack of rain – though it looked like it was pouring it down on the Black Isle.
Sounds like Inverness got it bad as well – a lightning strike on the Eastgate shopping centre forced it to close.
These must be the particularly violent storms that yesterday were reported to have brought 500 lightning strikes and flash floods to Cumbria.
Meanwhile, Nairn escapes the worst of it as usual.
Oh, look, it’s sunny again.
