Planting veg

Last year we dug up part of the garden to create a small vegetable patch – despite digging in a few bags of compost, the broccoli, cauliflower, and sprouts all came up stunted and wimpy.

So we let the caterpillars have them, and figured engaging the children on the journey from egg to butterfly would the best we could make of that year. :)

This year I didn’t even think about getting seeds, so today was a bit of a rush to get some seedlings – Greens didn;t have much left, but Broadley garden centre had quite a range left.

Dug in compost, manure, and soil conditioner, plus some ground bone fertiliser, planted the seedlings.

Am hoping to crack this gardening malarky. :)

Try courgettes, they usually do well in most areas of Nairn. Nice yellow flowers follwed by the veg.
PS ref the veggie ready meal type range in supermarkets. ASDA in Elgin seems to have a massive selection.
