Loch Morlich wins seaside award
Nice to see Loch Morlich win a seaside award, putting it towards a par with Nairn, Findhorn, and Hopeman:
Fresh water loch wins beach award
A fresh water loch has become the first to be recognised as having one of the best beaches in the country.
Loch Morlich, at the foot of the Cairngorms, was one of 60 beaches to be awarded the Seaside Award by the Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) campaign.
It is the first time a fresh water loch has received the accolade.
Seven beaches – one more than last year – and a marina were also awarded the internationally-recognised Blue Flag for their cleanliness.
I have to admit to finding the beach on Loch Morlich by accident, and it was a cold windy day so we didn;t get to enjoy it perhaps as much as we’d like to.
Still, interesting that if we’re up Aviemore way on a hot sunny day, that we know we’re not that far from an award-winning beach.
In the meantime, the Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) site lists Nairn Central Beach as an award winner, but not a blue flag beach.
