Nairn swimming pool reopens tomorrow

May 18, 2009 · Filed Under Nairn

A letter in the post has stated that Nairn Leisure Centre’s swimming facilities will be reopening tomorrow for children’s swimming clubs, after the recent issue of falling tiles forced it to close in April.
Sounds like the leisure centre pool should be open as usual this week then – now all we have to do is [...]

Update on Nairn

May 17, 2009 · Filed Under Nairn

Nairn Beach
Nice to see things continue to develop at the links:
1. The newly widened path has now been covered with tarmac – good to see and was well used this sunny afternoon;
2. The showies are coming, with a number of vans parked ready.
I did notice a few dogs on central beach, though, but coming back [...]

Deveron vs Cawdor

May 15, 2009 · Filed Under Development, Nairn

Interesting reporting on two different stories, both concerning developments in Nairnshire – one featuring Deveron’s failure to have the Sandown application accepted, the other being Lord Cawdor’s plans to expand the village of Cawdor itself.
Here’s the first from the Inverness Courier:

“We will always feel positive about this development and it is with deep regret that [...]

BNP targets Nairn

May 15, 2009 · Filed Under Politics

A surprise on the doorstep this morning – a promotional leaflet from the BNP trying to gain voter attention.
I couldn’t help notice a few things, though:
“British Jobs for British Workers”
That’s great – now will the BNP let us know how they are going to motivate dole-cheque Britain to taking those boring not-very-interesting jobs that take [...]

How Invicta PR failed Deveron Homes

May 13, 2009 · Filed Under Development, Nairn

Yesterday I felt slightly sorry for Invicta and Deveron – after all, business is business – Deveron want to build a development at Sandown that serves their business interests, and Invicta are hired to represent Deveron’s aims in this to the public.
I even felt like reaching out and providing an open letter, suggesting how Deveron [...]

Deveron 0, Nairn 1

May 12, 2009 · Filed Under Development, Nairn

Great news reported on the Gurn – the current application by Deveron Homes for the Sandown development has been rejected.
I managed to get to the start of the meeting, but it soon began to overrun and I had to leave to get back to work.
I’ve got to admit to feeling pessimistic when I was there, [...]

Google loses Nairn Scotland website

May 11, 2009 · Filed Under Internet

A string of updates on Google the past couple of weeks has led to the NairnScotland.co.uk website dropping suddenly in searches for its own name.
Currently if I search for “Nairn Scotland” the NairnScotland.co.uk website only appears on the bottom of the first page, when normally it would rank No.1 for its own name.
Additionally, though, the [...]
