New Bus Route: Nairn to Inverness Airport
The P&J reports a new bus service from Elgin to Inverness Airport, that will stop at Forres and Nairn on the way:
Regional transport partnership Hitrans has provided funding of £60,000 for the venture, after requests from the public and Moray Council. The money will go towards two new buses, as well as operating costs for the first two years.
The Jet service will operate hourly from Monday to Saturday, with the first bus leaving Elgin bus station at 5.50am and the last departure from Elgin at 6.25pm.
The Stagecoach site confirms this, which means the hourly link should actually integrate pretty well into a lot of flight times.

The Jet airport bus service has run from Nairn for quite a while now
Looks like it’s a new service – does the existing service run hourly?
This is good news. Perhaps the existing service (which I know has been running for a considerable time) is simply being merged/extended to Elgin?
seen that bus leaving Nairn a few times and never one passenger on-board !
Where to start on this.
1)It now takes one hour to get from Nairn to Inverness.
Nairn> Ardersier> Airport> Balloch> Retail park> Inverness…
I now need to leave Nairn at 6 and not get in at 6:50.
2) That’s when the bus’s are ever on time. What traffic is o the road at 6am to prevent a driver getting from Elgin to Nairn?
I know I mention his specific bus time but I have stood in the Retail park waiting for the 11pm bus until 2am before.
3) Not really about this topic but linked = ££££ cost of tickets anyone? £5 return to inverness. Per person a fiver is extortionate to cover fuel and driver wages for 16 miles. especially considering the recent drop in fuel prices and bus capacity.
@ Stephen I have seen the 6am bus I’ve mentioned earlier with upwards of 20 people just from Nairn to Inverness.
