Inverness Leisure spared £250,000 VAT bill
The VAT is to be feared, but He often gets it wrong.
Luckily, rather than pay the bill first, only to then be able to claim it back, Inverness Leisure Centre got an early reprieve:
Leisure trust spared VAT demand
The body that runs the biggest leisure centre in the Highlands has been told it will not have to pay £250,000 in backdated VAT.
Inverness Leisure had warned services would be hit if HM Revenue and Customs had insisted on the payment.
It joined 120 similar organisations throughout the UK in arguing that VAT should not be paid by charitable leisure sports trusts.
Inverness Leisure runs the Bught Lane centre on behalf of Highland Council.
