Nairn Snow: it arrives at last!
It appears my snow envy was short-lived, as the snow from Russia drifts up north from the rest of the UK – and finally reaches the Highlands.
So I spent the morning with the little sledge out with the kids, as Millbank School was closed today:

In the meantime, the travel disruption to the region is extensively – simply put, the Highlands is mostly cut off from the rest of Scotland, with the BBC reporting that the A9 is closed between Inverness and Aviemore, and the A96 closed after Fochabers.
Rail services are also affected, with the main Inverness to Aberdeen line blocked at Elgin. No word on the Inverness to Perth rail service. Let’s hope the Tesco Trains can make it.
Inverness airport is open though, which is good to hear, and I’m sure it won’t be too long before the couple of inches of snow we enjoyed last night melts into slush.
If anyone wants to send me their Nairn snow pics for publishing to the site, feel free to email them to briant @ mynairn.com and I’ll set up a dedicated post for them.
