Kingsteps, Culbin Forest, and Nairn Beach
A nice little walk we often like to do is to stop off at the little car park in Kingsteps, walk a while in Culbin Forest, and then walk back along the beach.
We normally like to get out at the weekends, but a combination of bad weather, preparations for Christmas, and a few family issues have meant it’s been hard to get out for a few weeks.
We weren’t able to go anywhere for the solstice this year (we visited Clava Cairns last year), so yesterday I decided it would be a good idea to do the little walk, just to get some fresh air.
The photos aren’t very dramatic, but no matter the weather, and if the tide is out, I find the sheer expansiveness of the beach exhilarating.

Parts of Culbin Forest feel increasingly magical.

We moved through the forest, into where it melts into sedge marsh, then the sands.

Nairn, rising gently from the countryside as a storm approaches.

The Black Isle, distant across expansive sands.
