Fancy buying a woodland? Lyne Wood for £25k

I noticed this come up today – Lyne Wood, a small 5 1/2 acres plan near Derness (just over the Findhorn River on the main road from Nairn to Grantown) up for sale for £25,000:

Lyne Wood, Highlands – Over 5½ acres, £25,000

I’ve got to admit there’s something attractive about the idea of buying a woodland, not least for conservation purposes – aside from being a nature lover in general, I am especially passionate about amphibians, and it’s long been an aim of mine to, at the very least, set up something to help protect, preserve or breed Britain’s declining amphibian species.

Not sure Lyne Wood would be a good place to start – probably not – but it’s still interesting to see woodland come up for public sale not far from Nairn.

Interesting to note little information about felling and timber sales – I would presume such land to be managed and that investing in timber production would be a necessary business practice. Of course, I could be wrong and that such purchases are simply vanity purchases for idealists such as myself.

Still, if you fancy it, for £25,000 it’s yours.

(Though in the current climate, you might as well try a little haggling!).
